The university offers one of the largest and most active study abroad programs in the country, and all undergraduates are encouraged to participate in a study abroad program during their time at the university.
It’s no surprise that the university is among the top three universities in the nation in the number of students participating in study abroad.

Applying for study abroad programs
Interested in studying abroad at some point during your time at UT Austin? You should first attend one of the Study Abroad Office’s scheduled general information sessions once you are enrolled and then meet with a Study Abroad advisor assigned to the country you want to visit.
Types of programs
There are five types of study abroad programs: UT Austin faculty-led programs, UT Austin exchanges, programs affiliated with UT Austin, independent study and research, and non-UT Austin programs.
Special programs for Business, Natural Sciences and Engineering
Some colleges and schools, like Business, Natural Sciences and Engineering, offer special study abroad programs that can be incorporated into your undergraduate degree.
Paying for study abroad
About half of the UT Austin students who study abroad on official university programs use some form of financial aid to cover their program costs. Learn about your options for paying for study abroad using financial aid and scholarships.
