The University of Texas at Austin

The University of Texas Tower overlooks the beautiful palm trees of the new Aquatic Complex.

So many things go into individual decisions about which college or university to attend that it’s really impossible to come up with a definitive list that would work for everyone. Some students make decisions based on the quality of the academic programs, some are persuaded by family and friends, and some say things just felt right from the moment they set foot on campus.

In their own words…

Diane Nguyen: “…you will learn so much from your peers.”

The environment at UT Austin is just amazing. It is so supportive and encouraging. The resources they offer… allow for students to be successful not only in the classroom, but also in life. The hundreds of organizations give students plenty of leadership opportunities. The student body is so diverse and you will learn so much from your peers.

Stephanie Bernard: “…embraced by its people…”

I’m happy to say that the moment I started my life in Texas I have been embraced by its people and its culture. I never once have ever felt like an outsider since I began school, and I can't imagine going to school anywhere else.

Van Winn: “…like its own city…”

I wish more people knew that UT is like its own city, with its own stores, its own infrastructure, its own politics, its own institutions and traditions. It’s easy to get lost in it, and it’s easy to have too much fun. Sometimes it’s hard work, and sometimes it’s stressful. But it’s always worth it in the end.

Shyam Sivasankar: “…the perfect fit for anyone…”

This school also has the perfect balance—everyone says that this school is so big, but you honestly make it what it is. I saw the numerous opportunities to get involved, and this made the university not so daunting. I think this school can be the perfect fit for anyone—from hardcore football fans to vocal performance majors, it’s all here.

Tayler Gill: “…respectful of your ideas, beliefs, and opinions.”

When I first came to UT I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find a church anywhere, but my view changed very quickly. There are so many churches and organizations in the UT area that you can really find your best fit. I was afraid everyone would be completely different from me, but I feel there is a good mix of people from everywhere. And the best part is that everyone is really respectful of your ideas, beliefs, and opinions.

David Kanewske: “…challenge me to do the best I can…”

UT also has amazing faculty and classes that really challenge me to do the best I can and learn all I can as well. There are few other places in the world that can offer the post-graduate and career opportunities that come with a degree from The University of Texas.

Sarah Evans: “…most comfortable at UT Austin.”

I visited many other campuses while searching for a college and I felt most comfortable at UT Austin. I think it’s very important to feel like you fit in at your campus. You really live on your college campus and UT Austin has been my home for four years.

Saul Trejo: “…consider… the tradition, and the memories…the Horns.”

I chose to come to The University of Texas at Austin mainly because I knew, inside, that this was the school for me. If you are not fortunate enough to receive that revelation, consider the vibrant city surrounding UT, the diversity that exists here, the unmatched sports programs, the tradition, and the memories…the Horns.
