Many high school juniors reach the final semester of their junior year and often ask us, "What can I do now if I want to apply to UT Austin?" Although you can't apply yet (you won’t be able to until later in the summer), you can do a number of things now to learn more about the UT Austin admissions and application process. Attending Rise and Shine on March 6, 2010, during UT Austin’s open house is a great start!
What is Rise & Shine?
Rise and Shine is a 40-minute information session for high school juniors and their families held during Explore UT–“the biggest open house in Texas.” The focus of the Rise & Shine information session is the UT Austin admissions process. A UT Austin admissions counselors will provide an overview of the admissions process and a panel of current UT Austin students will answer your questions about life as a Longhorn.
We highly encourage students and families to learn more about the university by attending additional Explore UT events designed for prospective students.
Three identical Rise and Shine sessions will be offered at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Advance registration is required!
Explore UT: Discover a World of Possibilities!

While on campus for Rise and Shine, we encourage you to also participate in the additional activities offered during the annual Explore UT—“the biggest open house in Texas.”
Explore UT is a day-long campus-wide program filled with fun, free activities for the entire family. Every college on campus offers activities, demonstrations, lectures, tours or events that offer attendees a glimpse into what happens behind the walls of each college on campus. Many of the Explore UT events are designed for prospective students.
While registration is required for Rise and Shine, there is no registration for Explore UT. You can learn more about Explore UT activities, plan your schedule and locate places to eat while on campus on the Explore UT web site.

Rise and Shine reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and are required for participation in the program. Space is limited, so register early.
After you register for Rise & Shine, you'll immediately receive an e-mail confirming your online registration. Within 7-10 business days, you'll also receive another e-mail with detailed information about parking, directions to campus and more, so keep an eye on your inbox!
