Living on campus can make your college experience better in just about every way: socially, professionally, and academically. So if you’re applying for admission, you should also consider living on campus.
The Process
You must complete your application for admission before applying for housing, and you can apply for summer/fall admission beginning August 1, 2009.
To complete your admissions application, all items listed as application requirements must have arrived and been processed by the Office of Admissions. Recommended/suggested items do not affect completion. Items submitted electronically appear online in a couple of days; items submitted by mail can take two weeks or more to be processed and appear online.
Want to see a residence hall for yourself?
If you’re planning a trip to campus and would like to take a residence hall tour, visit the Tours page for details.
Applying to live on campus is a four-part process that involves submitting your housing application, receiving and returning your contract, making your housing choices, and receiving your assignment.
Part 1: The Housing Application
Application
|
- Once your Application Status Check page indicates that your application for admission is complete, submit your UT Austin housing application. You do not need to be admitted before you apply for housing.
- The online housing application is preferred.
|
Processing fee and waivers
|
- Pay your non-refundable $50 housing application fee.
- Online payment is preferred; pay by credit card (MasterCard or Discover) or electronic check.
- If you are approved for a admissions application fee waiver, then your housing application fee will be automatically waived.
|
Part 2: The Housing Contract
Contract notification
|
|
Contract review
|
- Print your contract and the Terms & Conditions.
- Carefully review the contract and the Terms & Conditions.
|
Date, sign and return
|
- If you agree to the contract terms, date, sign, and return your contract.
- Contracts not returned by the expiration date are cancelled.
|
Advance payment
|
- When you return your signed contract, be sure to satisfy your $300 advance payment, which will be applied to your housing bill.
- Students who qualify for certain types of financial aid are eligible for a financial aid deferment.
|
Part 3: Your Choices
Make your housing choices
|
- After you submit your signed contract and your advance payment, log in to make your housing choices, including the residence halls you prefer and your roommate selection.
- Make your choices for fall/spring by July 1.
|
Part 4: Your Vaccination Information
View bacterial meningitis vaccination information (submit required forms if needed)
|
- Log in to My Housing to determine if you need to submit vaccination information.
- If your My Housing page indicates that you must do so, submit the Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Requirement form plus supporting documentation of your vaccination to the Division of Housing and Food Service.
- Details about this requirement, the required documentation, and possible waivers are available through My Housing.
- Failure to satisfy this requirement will mean that you will not be able to check in to your residence hall. Vaccination must be obtained no later than 10 days before move in.
- Students required to submit vaccination information must do so under UT policy in compliance with Texas Education Code Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Section 51.9192, Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirement “the Jamie Schanbaum Act.” The law goes into effect for new incoming students starting in spring 2010.
|
Part 5: Your Assignment
Receive your assignment
|
- Beginning in mid-July, e-mails with details about room assignments are sent to students.
