In addition to submitting a complete application for admission, freshman applicants to the School of Social Work should also review the following information regarding special application requirements.

Admission to the Social Work major is a two-step process. First, you must be admitted to UT Austin as a pre-social work major in the School of Social Work and complete the prerequisite courses. After you complete these courses, you will be able to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Social Work program.

To be considered for admission to the professional program, you must also meet certain GPA requirements, have volunteer experience, demonstrate a strong commitment to the profession, and be emotionally and professionally prepared to deal with clients.
