Coordinated Admission Program Universities The University of Texas of the Permian Basin
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin combines the individual attention of a smaller university with Texas-sized opportunities. UTPB, a member of The University of Texas System, opened its doors for classes in the fall of 1973 as an upper-level university. It was elevated to a four-year university in 1991 and has approximately 3,600 enrolled students and 215 full-time faculty. UTPB is located in Odessa, Texas, 20 miles from its sister city, Midland, Texas.
The UTPB campus has the latest in teaching technologies in its classrooms, modern research facilities, a new visual arts building and a new library/lecture center.

Financial Aid
Financial need is determined once you submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may pick up a paper FAFSA from your high school guidance counselor or you may request that an application be mailed to your home by calling 1-800-433-3243. If you haven't done so already, you may file an application electronically on the FAFSA web site.
If you applied for financial aid for UT Austin (by completing the FAFSA) but plan to attend UTPB as part of the Coordinated Admission Program, you must make certain that UTPB is authorized to receive your FAFSA information.
If you did not originally designate UTPB to receive your information, you can make the correction to your FAFSA in one of several ways:
Options for Correcting Your FAFSA
Paper Student Aid Report (SAR)
If you have your paper SAR, add UT Permian Basin’s FAFSA school code (009930) to Step 6 of the FAFSA, sign the report and return it to the address indicated for corrections.
Phone Correction
Call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243. You will need the Data Release Number (DRN) printed on your SAR to make the correction by phone.
Online
Visit the FAFSA on the Web and select the Add or Delete a School Code link. You will need a Federal Student Aid PIN to access and update your FAFSA information online. If you don't know your PIN, visit the Federal Student Aid PIN site for help.
Grants and Scholarships
Students who enroll at UTPB as part of CAP will receive a $2,000 freshman grant if they meet the following requirements:
- Ranked in the top 50 percent of their high school graduating class
- Received an SAT score of at least 830 (critical reading and math) or an ACT composite score of at least 18.

On-Campus Housing
While every effort will be made to provide you with on-campus housing at UTPB if you apply, a housing application and the required housing deposit should be submitted as soon as you submit your online CAP agreement.

Placement Testing
All incoming UTPB freshmen are required to take math and English placement tests unless you've already earned college credit in math and English through placement testing or dual-credit enrollment.
A placement test in chemistry is required for students pursuing a degree in science at UTPB.

Math Policy
The level of the math class in which you'll be required to enroll will be determined once you've taken the math placement exam.

Approved CAP Courses at UT Permian Basin
Many students are interested to find out what courses they can take during their freshman year at UT Arlington. Review the approved UT Permian Basin course listings to find out what courses are available. (A printable list (pdf) of approved courses is also available.)
If you choose to attend UT Permian Basin as part of CAP, the university will contact you after you submit your online CAP agreement with information about orientation and class registration. Be sure to consult an academic advisor before making final decisions about the courses you take.
